For World Heritage registration of Haiku
The world's shortest poem 'Haiku',
for the registration to UNESCO
Haiku is a cultural heritage that should be handed down from generation to generation, and developed and passed on to the future.

The Council for the Promotion of the registration of Haiku as UNESCO
On 24 April 2017, 'the Council for the Promotion of the registration of Haiku as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage' was established, with Akito Arima, as its first Chairman, with the aim of registering Haiku as UNESCO Intangible Cultural Heritage.
The Council is made up of four Haiku associations, including us, as well as local authorities throughout Japan with Haiku connections, such as Iga City in Mie Prefecture, known as the hometown of Matsuo Basho, and Matsuyama City in Ehime Prefecture, the hometown of Masaoka Shiki.
