“Introducing the first two lines of the Muromachi Renga poem “Yuyama Sangin” and other passages.
” *Using “Yuyama Sangin” as an example, explains how Japanese verse is full of meta-level expressions that are based on a common sense of the seasons and knowledge of waka poetry such as the Kokinshu.
*By also discussing medieval Japanese aesthetic sense, it shows that even within “Japan,” aesthetic sense differs greatly between the Middle Ages and modern times.
